The Hefner Museum of Natural History’s annual lecture will feature Rita R. Colwell, Ph.D.
Dr. Colwell is an environmental microbiologist and scientific administrator who holds positions at University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Colwell holds degrees in bacteriology, genetics, and oceanography and studies infectious diseases. She is also the founder and President of CosmosID, Inc., a biometrics company. Her long list of accomplishments includes:
Was the 1st female director of the National Science Foundation
Has authored over 20 books
Has authored or co-authored more than 800 scientific reports and publications
Has 9 patents
Produced the 1977 award-winning film, “Invisible Seas”
