Presenter – John Jaeger

John is from Toledo Ohio, graduating from the University of Toledo. His career is multi-faceted. He served as director of Natural Resources for the Metroparks of the Toledo area- developing land management plans for the twelve Metroparks. He was awarded two Ohio Division of Wildlife awards for his work on the history of the Great Black Swamp and for conservation of Ohio's wildlife. He has published several articles on the history of the Black Swamp and on restoration efforts within the Oak Openings Region. He is co-author on research publications into forest impacts from the Emerald Ash Borer. As a field naturalist he has consulted in land preservation and has conducted wildlife and flora surveys. He was a certified Parks and recreation professional through the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association. Since 2008 John has volunteered with the Highlands Nature Sanctuary which is the Arc of Appalachia Preserve System (Arc) in Bainbridge, Ohio. He was an active member of the Board of Directors and now serves as an active board advisor and chairs the Natural Resources Committee. He develops botanical species lists, advises on land acquisitions, conducts research and nature walks in all 22 of the Arc Preserves. In 2020 he was awarded Naturalist of the Year by the Ohio Biological Survey of which he is a life member. John now lives in Cincinnati.
