The Earth is filled with tremendous natural beauty and wonder. Tom Hissong, retired Education Coordinator and naturalist at the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm near Dayton, Ohio, has had the opportunity to travel to many exciting destinations around the world and experience the beauty and excitement of the “natural world”. In this program Tom will share some of his most favorite color photographs and experiences from such destinations as Ohio, South Florida and the Everglades, the north woods of Michigan, the canyons and mesas of the southwestern United States, Australia, the Peruvian Amazon and Andes, Panama, Kenya, the High Arctic of Norway, Mexico and the Inside Passage of Alaska. This program will take the audience on a special trip of beauty and wonder. Tom is an award winning nature photographer.

Thomas Hissong has followed an exciting career path working as an Interpretive Naturalist in the Dayton, Ohio area for over 41 years. He retired from his position as the Education Manager at the Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm north of Dayton in March of 2017. Prior to his position at Aullwood Tom served as a naturalist for 2 years with the Five Rivers MetroParks in Montgomery County Ohio which followed 16 years in the position of Curator of Education with the Dayton Museum of Natural History. Tom graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio with a B.S. degree in Environmental Education and Field Biology in 1976. He is well known throughout the Dayton area for his expertise as an avid ornithology instructor and bird watcher and for his enthusiasm in teaching many children and adult classes on natural history topics each year. Thomas has received numerous awards including: The Dayton Tripod Camera Club’s 1984 Nature Photographer of the Year, the National Audubon Society ACE Group Award and the National Audubon Society Educator of the Year.
